Tips for Safe Driving During Monsoon Season

As all of us know monsoon is a season when most of the roads get flooded with water. Many areas have water clogging problems. Though the government takes appropriate measures before the monsoon season starts it is our duty to drive carefully for everyone’s safety.

It is too much fun to go for long drives in the rain and have a sip of your favourite tea or coffee, but even before you start driving there are a few safety measures that you must be careful about. Here, we have listed down a few safety tips to make sure that you have a safe drive during the rains.

Inspect your car

You need to make sure that your car is in perfect condition so that during the monsoon you don’t face any issue. Pre-Monsoon car servicing is very important. Most of the servicing will include checking the brakes, wipers, tires, horn, headlight beams, etc.

Thus, it is important to get your vehicle checked before you take out your car in the monsoon. You must change the defective components and replace the tires if needed. The slippery road needs powerful new tires to function in the right way.

Defog the windshields daily

We know that during the rainy days, the car’s windshield, rear, and windows windshield generally gets fogged up. It is significant that you defog your windscreen and car windows are defogged regularly so that it does not cause any obstruction for your vision. The only thing that you need to do is switch on your air conditioner. Switching on the AC will help in removing the moisture from the air.

Check the vehicle brakes

It is very important to get your vehicle brakes checked before you take out your car during the monsoon. It has been noted that the wet brakes do not work properly in the waterlogged areas and can result in brake failure. Try to minimize the usage of brakes and control the vehicle using the clutch and steering wheel.

Always drive within the speed limit

You should drive slowly and must have full control over your car. One of the best ways of maintaining road safety during the monsoon is to drive slowly. The chances of accidents and vehicle skidding are more when the roads are wet. Thus, you should maintain a safe distance from vehicles that are in front of you and maintain a speed limit.

Switch on the taillights and headlights

Visibility is less during the monsoon and most of the vehicles face issues driving through traffic. One way to handle this situation is to switch on the taillights and headlights permanently so that you will not only get a clear view of the traffic but also make your vehicle also visible to other drivers on the road.

All of us know monsoon causes a lot of accidents and traffic jam, so it is very important to take all precautions to stay protected. Use the above-mentioned tips to safeguard yourself and your vehicle during this season. Always drive carefully. Always remember, prevention is better than cure.
