List of Fast and Furious Cars

popular cars in fast and furious

The movies in “The Fast and Furious” contract deliver on what they promise: superfluous actions and too many cars. The plots may just hold water till you start thinking about them, but each movie seems to outshine the previous one in terms of physics-defying stunts and the quality and rarity of the sheet metal on the screen. With so many cars featured in the movies over the years, it is difficult to select a handful. Nevertheless, here we are discussing the top cars used in Fast and Furious movies.

Vin Diesel in the movies drove several iconic cars in The Fast Saga, so here are his top cars so far in the franchise. Vin Diesel has appeared in seven Fast & Furious movies and his own directorial tie-in short film, Los Bandoleros. He will surely add a few more cars to this list with a few more installments in the future.

Dom is a huge fan of muscle cars, which became noticeable early in the franchise. Instead of using typical models for speed during the street races, Vin Diesel preferred something that has horsepower. His love for this kind of car was influenced by his father, another fanatic car, and Dom also tended to contend with Brian O’ Conner (Paul Walker) on his friend’s loyalty towards imports.

Some popular cars used in Fast and Furious

1970 Dodge Charger

At the end of the first movie, you must have seen how Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) races in 1970 Dodge Charger, which has 900 hp. After just missing being hit by a freight train, the Charger hits a truck and flips across the air. Though it looks like the Dodge muscle car’s racing days are finished, the car is again back for fourth and fifth films to break Toretto out of a prison bus. The supercharged, black Dodge Charger driven by Dominic Toretto is as much a sign of the Fast & Furious as Vin Diesel or The Rock.  Seen in four of the eight main movies, the car has a biblical power output of 900hp and can transmit a quarter-mile drag in nine seconds.

 Nissan Skyline GT- R R34

Brian O Corner’s Nissan Skyline GT-R34 from Fast and Furious 2 left an enduring impact on the franchise, popularly winning a street race that included jumping on an open bridge. Though that specific example of the iconic twin-turbo Nissan just appears in one movie, as our hero Brian is back behind the wheel of an R34 in Fast & Furious. On that occasion, he drives a blue Skyline GT-R for street racing and drug smelling before it is blown at the film’s climax.

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS

In the last credits of The Fast and Furious, Dom was seen evading Los Angeles and driving a red Chevelle in Baja, Mexico. Then the car came back in Fast & Furious in which Dome was seen driving it while coming back home to attend the funeral of Letty. Later, Dom sanded the car, repainted it gray in color, and it too was blown up while trying to take revenge for Letty’s death.

Honda S2000

The Honda S2000 possibly is not the first car that comes to mind when you think about drag racing, but in the world of “The Fast and Furious”, it is evidently a top choice. Johnny Tran (Rick Yune) drives a Honda S 2000 with an estimated “hundred grand below the roof” at the Race Wars, where he wins. In the 2nd movie, Suki uses a hot pink S2000 to jump off a drawbridge and lands with just small cosmetic damage.

1970 Ford Escort Mk I

It is a plucky underdog, standing out in a franchise filled to the top with the souped-up supercars. With its march car styling and performance, it was the main part of one of the Fast and Furious 6’s major action scenes, joining a 1969 Mustang in taking over a freaking tank. Amazingly, it survived after being blown up or crushed in its sequence, enduring some small cosmetic damage.

1971 Nissan Skyline GT-R Hakosuka

The classic Nissan Skyline GT-R “Hakosuka” was the foremost car to wear the famous GT-R badge. It is also one of the first cars seen in fast and furious 5. After the crew of Toretto assaults his prison bus, O’ Corner moves to Rio in this classic coupe to avoid the law. It is not a car meant for chasing scenes. Though it is 2.0-liter, the straight-six engine makes a popular spine-tingling noise, it just generates 160 hp, so it is not that fast.

RB-Swapped 1967 Ford Mustang

In the last scenes of “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, “Sean Boswell drives a 1967 Ford Mustang which was earlier owned by his father. The small twist is that this pony requires a new engine, and being that the film takes place in Japan, the natural option is the twin-turbo, 2.6-liter RB26 inline-six out of the Nissan Skyline GT-R. Ignore the amount of fabrication like a swap would need for a moment and you can accept that the Nissan engine is the only option for the new beating heart of Mustang. Whether you call it violation or car pornography, there is no disproving that this Mustang is one special build.

1969 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro

One of the villains in “2 Fast 2 Furious” drives a 69 Yenko Camaro. This muscle car is owned by Brian O’ Corner after a race for pink slips and it is used in the second half of the movie to avoid cops and jump on a boat. The car utilized in the movie was an imitation, which is good considering legitimate Camaros prepared by legendary Yenko Chevrolet are some of the most popular collector cars in the automotive industry.

1987 Buick GNX

Dominic Toretto mysteriously selects an ultra-rare 1987 Buick GNX for a tanker truck heist in the 4th movie. Based on the Grand National, the GNX was the last of all the Turbo Buicks. It comes with a turbocharged, 355 lb-ft of torque, 3.8-liter V6 rated at 245 hp. However, several reports suggest those numbers were underestimated. Just over 1000 GNX coupes were manufactured. Although no GNX’s were destroyed during the making of “Fast & Furious”, seven Grand Nationals concealed as GNX’s were sacrificed.

F-Bomb Chevrolet Camaro

It is one of the popular cars used in Fast and Furious. David Freiburger, Roadkill host built the F-Bomb 1973 Camaro as a test to see how far you can take the car while still maintaining its legal status. The outcome was the twin-turbo, olive drab-finished beast, 1,500 hp that was included in the director Justin Lin’s movie. Dominic Toretto drives a copy of the F-Bomb towards the end of the movie and utilizes it to ram into the bad guy in one of the ultimate scenes.

1970 Ford Escort RS1600 Mk 1

This is another one in the list of cars used in Fast and Furious. This car was a welcome sight in fast and furious 6.  The new European-market Ford Escort was a force to be counted in the late 60s to the mid-70s, mainly in RS1600 and RS2000 pretext. The car used in the movie, driven by Brian O’ Conner, is a 1970 Ford Escort RS 1600. The real car was driven by a 16-valve, twin-cam, 1.6-liter Cosworth BDA four-cylinder engine that made 113 hp.

These are some of the famous cars used in Fast and Furious movies. Though “The Fast and Furious” contract’s original focus was mainly on the import scene, several subsets of car culture have been incorporated over the years.
